Put A Little Sugar On It and Then Spin, Spin, Spin

by Pamela Leavey

The American public has heard enough spin from BushCo to last a lifetime, but regardless the spin continues, as General Petraeus prepares deliver the Iraq progress report to Congress this week. A new ABC News/Washington Post poll reveals:

More than half of Americans think the Petraeus report will try to sugar-coat the real situation there, and two-thirds don’t believe it will influence George W. Bush’s war policy anyway.

Fifty-three percent in this ABC News/Washington Post poll think Gen. David Petraeus’ progress report on the “surge” of U.S. troops will try to make things look better than they really are; fewer, 39 percent, expect it to honestly reflect the situation in Iraq.

The full results of the ABC poll are here.

CNN reports that tomorrow “the liberal advocacy group MoveOn.org, is set to publish an ad in the New York Times that claims Petraeus is not giving an objective, independent view of the situation on the ground.”

The ad says ‘General Petraeus or General Betray us? Cooking the books for the White House.”

Following up with the delivery of the Iraq progress report aka the Petraeus propaganda report, Petraeus will appear on FAUX News in an EXCLUSIVE interview.

So there you have it… The Bush Administrations recipe for the Iraq progress report… Put a little sugar on it and spin, spin, spin. There’s further discussion on the Petraeus report spin and the ABC/WaPo Poll at The Agonist; Brilliant At Breakfast; Seeing The Forest; Gun Toting Liberal; The Moderate Voice and as always holding up the propaganda side of the aisle at Jules Crittenden.
