The Bush White House has been mighty generous with tax payers dollars. In ’04 they foot the bill for expenses for Ronald Reagan’s funeral and today they announced that the Ford Foundation was getting reimbursed for “about $230,000 for transportation costs and expenses related to the former president’s funeral last January.”
The White House said in a memorandum to the Office of Management and Budget that the foundation would be reimbursed to defray expenses incurred for the funeral. The government made similar reimbursements for the funeral of President Reagan in 2004.
Ford died on Dec. 26 at his home in Rancho Mirage, Calif., at age 93. He was buried on Jan. 3 on the grounds of the his presidential museum in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Ain’t that something… we can’t fund things like healthcare for children and higher education for veterans but we can pay for “eight days of mourning” for Gerald Ford “that included services in California, Washington, a public viewing in Grand Rapids and a funeral at his family’s church in East Grand Rapids.”
