Something Is Terribly Wrong on the Hill… and It Needs to Go

by Pamela Leavey

The WaPo’s editorial board today that it time for Alberto Gonzales to go. In their editorial today citing yesterday’s tragic testimony of Gonzales before Congress, the WaPo said, “SOMETHING IS terribly, terribly wrong when the attorney general of the United States is called to testify under oath before Congress and much of the hearing revolves around his credibility — or lack thereof.”

At what point does someone lose so much credibility that he should no longer serve in public office? In the case of Mr. Gonzales, we believe that time has come and gone.

The question remains.. When Will Bush Fire The Liar?

UPDATE: AP News reports on “Documents” that “indicate eight congressional leaders were briefed about the Bush administration’s terrorist surveillance program on the eve of its expiration in 2004,” which contradict the “sworn Senate testimony this week by Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.”

And the WaPo reports… “Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick J. Leahy threatened yesterday to request a perjury investigation of Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales, as Democrats said an intelligence official’s statement about a classified surveillance program was at odds with Gonzales’s sworn testimony.”

Enough is enough with Gonzo.. he’s got to go. Memeorandum has all the buzz and there’s discussions at Think Progress, Anonymous Liberal, Crooked Timber and Watching Those We Choose.

  2. Is he really going to go out in handcuffs? I’m not sure he’ll ever go willingly, but some of this new stuff sounds serious. I’m thinking that he cut corners to make up for lack of talent and it’s coming back on him.
