Hillary Nails Bush Style Diplomacy in Debate (VIDEO)

by Pamela Leavey

The Democratic presidential candidates faced off tonight for their 2nd debate at St. Anselm College just outside Manchester, NH. The WaPo predicted that much of the focus would be on the “three leading candidates — New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Illinois Sen. Barack Obama and former North Carolina senator John Edwards.” Good luck to the rest of the pack, I guess, if the plan was to only focus on the frontrunners.

Check out this video of Hillary Clinton nailing the “Bush style” diplomacy of Condi and Dick Cheney… It’s a classic:

  1. I am starting to think that she is going to take the nomination. I really wish I could like her again (circa fall 2006) but I don’t know.

It’s far to early to call Hill a done deal. Give it time, and eventually her purely political movefor her own career taken in fall 06 will fade. In the meantime we know from ’04 that frontrunner slips and others rush in. 🙂

It’s going to be a long ride. Sit back and watch, listen and wait.

  3. Bill Richardson did well, though I think he needs to deliver more concise, focused answers or else he runs the risk of appearing evasive.

Still, his executive experience as governor of New Mexico, along with his diplomatic and cabinet experience is quite appealing. He just needs to relax a bit and have more presence in front of the camera.

  4. At least Biden is (partially) filling the role that John Kerry should be filling. Namely the one who gives a truthful, pragmatic analysis of Iraq and how it can be handled. Kucinich and Gravel added a healthy dose of Lefty agitation, and the three front runners each did what they had to do. Which means, HRC wins by remaining in front.

  5. It’s going on 2008 and women make up only roughly 5% of the presidential candidates in this country.

  6. Hmm, Dick Cheney showing up for a ‘Diplomatic’ visit. Kinda like the mob sending someone to discuss whether you want to be found at the bottom of a river or just completely disappear…

  7. Hillary’s “we are safer now” gaffe was incredibly stupid. That will be used against Dems who link the Iraq debacle to rises in terrorism.
Her statements about supporting the administration will come back to haunt her.

    Obama had a few moments.
Edwards tried to attack and was partly sucessful.
Biden was really concise and passionate. He was not making reservations as usual.
    Richardson was the opposite.
    Gravel was a waste
Dennis had his moments. I favor him the best. He is the most honest of the candidates. If “telling truth to power” is to be more then a bumper sticker then Dennis should be supported.

Good point. And a sad one too. Like her or dislike her, it’s time to see women running for president in this country.
