The Surge Is Working: Blast Rocks Iraq Parliament; 2 Lawmakers Killed
by Pamela LeaveyLong live the surge! We see today that the effects of Bush’s ’surge’ in Iraq are so powerful that “militants can penetrate even the most secure locations” — like the Green Zone.
A bomb exploded in the Iraqi parliament’s cafeteria in a stunning assault in the heart of the heavily fortified, U.S.-protected Green Zone on Thursday, killing at least two lawmakers and wounding 10 other people.
The Iraqi parliment attack also came in the wake of the a suicide truck bomb exploding “on a major bridge in Baghdad, collapsing the steel structure and sending cars tumbling into the Tigris River below, police and witnesses said. At least 10 people were killed.”
I wonder if John McCain might still be willing to walk through the streets of Baghdad claiming how safe it is there? Probably not… he’s struggling to save his presidential campaign right now, by cutting back on staff. Perhaps if McCain were not so stubbornly holding on to Bush’s shirt tails and proclaiming his “robust defense of the war in Iraq,” he might not be in this mess. No pity here…
It’s time to put an end to Bush’s dirty war based on lies. Lawmakers in Iraq can’t even grab a bite to eat in the Iraqi parliment cafeteria, smack dab in the “heavily fortified, U.S.-protected Green Zone,” with out losing a few of their own to suicide bombers.

This looks like chain yanking to me. There’s an element in Iraq that would rather kill us there than over here (not that it’s really an either/or), and there is little on earth that is more predictable than the Bush reaction to these events. He will spend even more of our lives and money because of this than would have been the case.
Bin Laden (or whoever is in charge now) pulls the string, Bush dances, and we all pay the price. Since it all seems to be part of a nightmare, it would be great to be able to feel like we are at least starting to wake up.
John Kerry Urges Bush: Listen to Your Generals, Change Course on Iraq
As I noted here earlier today, a bombing in the Green Zone in Baghdad today killed “3 Iraqi lawmakers and 5 others” (my earlier post noted 2, the news has updated this to 3). Also in “a separate incident, a powerful truck bomb topple…
You almost have to figure that this is in response to “Bring em on” and the rest of the bully talk.
“We can even bomb you in your ’safe’ zone.”
No duh. The generals know it, we know it, the terrorists know it.
George, The Clueless Wonder, does not know it.
