Ouch… Ed Schultz Takes Hillary to Task
by Pamela LeaveyProgressive talk show host Ed Schultz took Hillary to task yesterday for the way her handlers have treated the Ed Schultz in trying to arrange for Clinton to be on his show. Raw Story reported on the Ed’s rant today, noting that “Fargo’s liberal talker Ed Schultz broke out enraged against the staff of Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) in remarks broadcast Monday.” It appears Big Eddie is good and steamed, Clinton’s people are being none too helpful in getting her on his show:
“What loyal listeners should know about Hillary and her people”
By Ed Schultz
Hillary Clinton is off and running. Great! What does it mean for progressive talk and the audience?
Loyal listeners to the Ed Schultz show have helped us propel into the top 10 of syndicated talk shows in the industry. We are proud of that and our recent numbers coming back show we are beating Sean Hannity is numerous markets. What we do works.
Convincing Hillary Clinton and her arrogant handlers of that is a different battle in itself. We are known for connecting with the newsmakers as well as any talk show.
Many of you have requested hearing from Hillary on progressive talk especially The Ed Schultz Show. I want you to know our producer James Holm tirelessly works the contacts and has repeatedly tried to connect with Clinton’s people.
Cutting to the chase, Hillary’s people treat us like dirt. We are constantly disregarded, told things that aren’t true, and given speculation an interview might happen someday.
Quite frankly, I’m sick of it. This morning I watched Hillary Clinton tell CNN she is accessible. What? To the TV cameras yes, to the base of loyal listeners on progressive talk radio, absolutely not!Reaching over 2.5 million listeners who are engaged in changing the country I believe qualifies us for some attention. I realize Hillary is an international figure and star but this pattern of treatment to The Ed Schultz Show has been an on-going pattern which tells me all they care about is her mug on TV.
The conservatives have done wonders with audio continually talking to and solidifying their base. It’s apparent to me radio is minor to the people surrounding this leading candidate.
When Wendy and I see Hillary from time to time she is more than respectful, likeable, and seemingly interested in how we are doing. But when it comes to supplying any workable connection to helping progressive talk it all falls short.
Hillary tells us how much she cares about progressives on radio but we just don’t get the love. I just thought as listeners you might want to know this.
Ed’s got it right. Our Democratic leaders and candidates need to be available to work with the progressive community on both progressive talk radio and the blogs. While the MSM and the Noise Machine work against us, we’re working for the Democrats in office getting out the news that Noise Machine does not. The connection is vital. John Kerry gets that. He’s been on The Ed Schultz Show numerous times over the past months. A smart Democratic candidate for ’08 would waste no time getting on Big Ed’s show after making their announcement in my opinion — or better yet, why not coordinate the announcement with an interview on Ed’s show that day?

I love Big Ed and he is right on about Hillary!
ok…the “Hillary” ad on your page says let the conversation begin.
My first thought is who will be moderating this little chat with…just call me “Hillary”? By the way nice PR job on that ad “Hillary” camp.
Its folksy…its cozy…but its business as usual until proven otherwise in my opinion.
Peace
I quote a chant we in the Maryland area used to say about a Hall of Famer first baseman who played for the Orioles in the 1970s and 1980s
“Ed-die, Ed-die, Ed-die, Ed-die, Ed-die”
It applies almost as well to Ed Schultz.
I heard Ed use the ‘dirt’ comment by Hillary and her people. He did come across as pretty upset, but I didn’t think he was this mad – so mad to write a commentary about it.
I don’t understand the Hillary people. Big Eddie has the largest progressive talk show in the country – why not go on? Some on Eddie’s website thought Eddie was too left wing and Hillary wouldn’t want to be heard in that format. To left wing? I consider Ed to more common sense if anything.
Has anyone else noticed how much hillary is changing her positions to the same as Kerry’s?
I noticed it again tonight how she was talking about all the things Iraq, environment, etc., for the last year or 2 and if I had heard that before from Kerry.
Hil is trying to co-op Kerry’s positions and act like they are all her own and so far the msm is letting her get away with it.
Maybe big Ed can ask her why she is co-opting John Kerry’s positions on a host of issues from global warming, to healthcare, to redeployment to Afghanistan to Iran.
Can’t the clintons come up with anything on their own? They are as bad as the bushes.
Pen
Sure did sound like she was channeling JK tonight after the SOTU. I haven’t tuned into to one of her webcasts yet, but thought I might tomorrow out of curiosity.
Better have plenty of tums with you Pamela if you tune in.
I know one has to check out the enemy to see what they are up to but that would be a bit much for the blood pressure.
I guess now we know what Peter Daou was doing with her team getting her beefed up on the web.
Wouldn’t surprise me if she is trying to get an email list like Kerry’s.
I bet when you log in to a hil cast she gets your address and everything else.
But is there no one with the kajonnes in the “liberal/progressive” media sphere that will take hillary on? If there isn’t then the party is screwed.
