‘08 Watch: Biden to Run, Will Gore?
by Pamela LeaveySenator Joe Biden made his intentions to run for the Democratic nomination in ‘08 clear (once again) today on “Meet the Press.” I’m curious just how many times Biden has used the Sunday talk show format to press his case for running in ‘08 over the past few months? It seems to me that every time he’s interviewed he announces his intentions. What’s different today? Biden declared: “I will file for an exploratory committee before the month is out.”
In other ‘08 news, the WaPo speculates on an Al Gore bid: Gore Leaves Door Ajar for 2008.
Will he or won’t he?
And Victor Fazio notes in an OP/ED in the WaPo, “with 2008 in mind, Pelosi’s first 100 hours may prove less a personal crusade than a harbinger of greater gains to come.”
All that said, let me reiterate, please no more political dynasties in ‘08.

I do not think that Gore will run. Nothing in the article even seems to say he will. It just seems to be a good story line the media do not want to drop.
As for Biden, he has been announcing he will run in about every single show he has been on. His problem is that nobody seems to care.
Obama should announce soon (or not,…). And the only one I really care to hear about is Kerry. We really need him to run and to be out there fighting. Congress is back in town. Time to be out and fight for what matters.
Run, John, run.
Believe it or not, a fellow blogger thinks now that is Biden running, he has a better chance at getting the nomination than Edwards.
Biden is going to also use his SFRC chairmanship to his advantage to make himself look good, presidential, and in control.
As far Obama hype, he and the Mrs. made Ebony magazine’s Feburary issue as “the next first couple?” They will be one day, but I hope Obama can come back to earth and focus on the real issues.
I haven’t heard much Gore talk, (he’s a no. 2 choice) but he seems very focused on bringing awarness of global warming than anything else.
“We really need him to run and to be out there fighting. Congress is back in town. Time to be out and fight for what matters.”
Exactly.
Wish the public understood everything a bit more. What we really lost, but maybe gained more in 2004. As important, why we lost, and not repeat the mistakes.
Secure the vote, don’t eat our own, understand how government works, certainly not agita over complicated votes.
Wish the public had more of a sense of Kerry, not the media invention.
Most important are the very real dangers of everything the wingnuts have touched. Do I mention purposely keeping the Middle East aflame. Iran. Killing Saddam, now.
We need an experienced grown-up, and not Bill2.
“Don’t count on it, say his closest advisers.”
That’s my view as well.
The only signs of life in a Gore campaign that I’ve seen is from the media and pundits inside the belt way.
As for Hillary and Obama, I just don’t see it for the Dems. If a woman or a minority run, I think a candidate of that stature will have to come from the GOP. Powell could have done it if he had the heart. I think it comes down to a matter of trust with the voting public.
Any other candidate (woman/minority)coming in as a Dem has to run the perfect campaign, Harold Ford ran a nearly perfect campaign – is an example; I am worried about how Obama would get plastered in a general election (Cocaine? Oh no!).
Forget about Biden,Clinton,Gore and all others. Its all about John Kerry in 2008, he is the only one I am concerned about right . Does anyone at all have a clue when John Kerry is going to throw his hat in the ring for 2008?? I have been waiting for 2 years and I am ready to roll up my sleeves and hit the road running for JK.
Kudos to Gov. Deval
Patrick says he would support Kerry if he seeks presidency again
I’m all for JK. He can’t announce soon enough as far as I’m concerned.
I’m guessing JK is bidding his time. Either waiting for his book to come out in the Spring, or for Hillary and Obama to jump in. Timing is everything I guess.
