Bush to Reveal Troop Boost in Speech Themed on “Sacrifice”
by Pamela LeaveyThe BBC reported earlier today that Bush intends to reveal his new Iraq strategy within a few days. His speech, the BBC notes, will reveal Bush’s latest plan to send more US troops to Iraq (aka the “surge” or escalation”) to “focus on ways of bringing greater security, rather than training Iraqi forces.”
The move comes with figures from Iraqi ministries suggesting that deaths among civilians are at record highs.
The US president arrived back in Washington on Monday after a week-long holiday at his ranch in Texas.
The BBC was told by a senior administration source that the speech setting out changes in Mr Bush’s Iraq policy is likely to come in the middle of next week.
Its central theme will be sacrifice.
BBC said also they had been told, the speech “involves increasing troop numbers.”
The exact mission of the extra troops in Iraq is still under discussion, according to officials, but it is likely to focus on providing security rather than training Iraqi forces.
The proposal, if it comes, will be highly controversial.
It appears not all of Bush’s Republican party are on board with the plans or the proposed speech: “Already one senior Republican senator has called it Alice in Wonderland.”
Hasn’t America sacrificed enough for your lies Mr. Bush? Isn’t 3,000 dead American Troops enough, with countless maimed and injured? When does it stop?

No offense to Speaker-to-be Pelosi but this is why I was a little upset that the possibility of impeachment is “off the table”………
Not to say that I would go that route but just like the military, we should leave our options open because there is no telling where this administration will stop, as is obvious with this kind of proposal.
Make sure you all see the Olberman videos above and while doing so figure out what average citizens like ourselves can do to stop this madness.
Javelin,
I am not happy about it but I do understand the mountain of work they have aside from that. I also have wondered if these Dem leaders will pull one of those infamous flip-flops on the issue.
