‘The New Way Forward’ is Delayed
by Pamela Leavey‘The New Way Forward’ has been officially delayed. That’s right, BushCo has no plan, there will be no speech in the near future as the Bush administration had stated last week, instead, “Bush will wait until after the holidays to speak to the nation about a new strategy in Iraq, a strategy he said today will be designed to establish a free and self-sufficient country that will be an ally in the battle against extremists.”
Good gracious, the Iraq Study Group hands the man a plan and he’s still looking for answers. Why? Because he didn’t like what the Iraq Study Group told him. Why? Because it was filled with ideas from Democrats like John Kerry. Heavens! We can’t have that now can we? So while Bush is twidling his thumbs and deciding what to do, because, as we all know, he’s the ‘decider,’ word has it that one Senator is going over to Iraq to meet with leaders and soldiers on the ground and assess the situation first hand.
Tony Snow was flip flopping all over the White House afternoon briefing today…
Mr. Snow refused to say whether the president remained firmly opposed to establishing timetables for American withdrawal — which would presumably coincide with Iraqis’ reaching certain benchmarks in securing the country. However, he indicated during his regular afternoon briefing with reporters that the president would address the issue during an expected speech laying out his plan. He later said he had meant to imply only that the president was open to various options…
Asked if the report came up at the State Department meeting, Mr. Snow said, “not really.” And, he said, he did not expect the panel of experts to discuss it much during the Oval Office session either, saying they were not going to the White House to present “a book review.”
The will be no “New Way Forward.” It’s been cancelled. Stay the course, everyone.
