Experts Advise Bush to ‘Stay the Course’ or Something to That Effect

by Pamela Leavey

In the wake of the release of the Iraq Study Group report, Bush is now meeting with ‘experts’ so he can get a 2nd opinion. The bottomline of course, we all know if that Bush is ‘the decider’ and he won’t be following the advice of the ISG or anyone else for that matter. The White House press corps and the Noise Machine might be spining hat Bush is looking for “a new way forward” but the truth be told, he’s looking for some to agree with him, and then he’ll claim once again, “I’m the decider” and there won’t be any changes made — let’s ‘stay the course.’

President Bush heard a blunt and dismal assessment of his handling of Iraq from a group of military experts yesterday, but the advisers shared the White House’s skeptical view of the recommendations made last week by the bipartisan Iraq Study Group, sources said.

The three retired generals and two academics disagreed in particular with the study group’s plans to reduce the number of U.S. combat troops in Iraq and to reach out for help to Iran and Syria, according to sources familiar with the meeting, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the session was private.

Press puppet Tony Snow said today that the Bush administration is hoping for the president to deliver a speech on “a new way forward” before Christmas, although he said “the timing has not been nailed down.” It should be a real nail-biter… same old – same old, just in time for the holidays. Joy to the world, the ‘decider’ still doesn’t get it — the White House still believes “the situation in Iraq is ‘winnable.'”
