Musings on ’08

by Pamela Leavey

The field of Democratic candidates for ’08 is looking really strange these days. We have Joe Biden wooing the GOP (see post below) and now a report that Obama, another likely ’08 candidate was Hillary’s turf, doing a little kiss up job, while courting Democratic donors.

Speaking to reporters last night after those meetings and a speech to a charity dinner, Mr. Obama called Mrs. Clinton a friend and ally and said that if he decided to run for president, it would not be based on his assessment of her.

“I think she is tough, I think she is disciplined, I think she is smart, and I’m not one of those people who believe she can’t win,” Mr. Obama said. “I recognize it’s fun to set these things up as a contest between the two of us. I would say half my colleagues in the Senate think they’re going to be the next president.”

Obama might take a moment to recogonize that at least some of his colleagues in the Senate other than Hillary actually have the experience to be president. In a nutshell there’s one Senator, who’s got the kind of experience America needs to clean up the mess made by BushCo — John Kerry. The rest are wannabe’s…

Obama’s too green. Hillary’s to polarizing and not so thrifty. Biden’s to centrist with an odd sense of humor. Bayh is too concerned about an ideological agenda. After 8 years of Bush, nothing but the Real Deal can set this country straight.

  1. Pamela

You hit nail right on the head with your description of the other 08 Democratic Candidates.

  2. It’s official, Kos has endosed Obama, saying that if he runs, he wins, bla, bla, bla. :eyes roll:

You guys are right. Other than Kerry, the 08 race comes across more like a popularity contest, which is epitomizes the sad state of American politics.

  3. I have never….. this is so absurd I’m shocked. You are right Pamela in your assessments. The idea of Obama as president is absolutely laughable. Hillary can’t win. Where are everybody’s heads?

The Kos Obama thing was so ridiculous I was surprised. He’s shown his true immaturity. I though he was a little more savvy than that.

The truth eventually comes out. Have confidence. Things are going to take a serious turn next year and it will most interesting to watch.

  4. There is hope though. A parody of Kos’s post got a lot of response.

  5. The more I think about it…it has gotten so absurd I believe that they are reacting to the inner knowledge that Kerry will be the nominee and they’ll have to support him. It doesn’t make sense to try and bolster wannabes.

Obama has broken his image trance. He looks like an impatient toddler all excited being with the grown-ups.

  6. Obama looking like “an impatient toddler all excited being with the grown-ups”

They are already attacking him over his middle name “Hussein” and big Candy at CNN is bashing him for cutting into Hillary’s (and other Democrats) support.

It’s just goes to show us that the media (or groupies) don’t really care about the issues anymore.

Not sure they ever did. Reporting has always been a business not concerned with the truth only insofar as it got people fame. It’s entertainment.

The power they have is exaggerated. You’ll see when Kerry takes charge. All of it will drift into the past. There are plenty of people in this country who don’t take their orders from TV personalities. You’ll see.

  8. Thanks Teresa.

Even laughable is that people say that since Obama is African-American (though he is mixed) and popular in the South, he could flip some red states in the cause there are a lot more AA that live in the South (they still love Bill) than in the North and West.

I agree with Kerry, all this 08 talk and hype is boring. When January arrives, actions will have to speak louder than words.

  9. They are all jumping the gun, showing their impatience, greed, and fundamental lack of leadership skill.

Now is not the time. Not when the new Dem Congress is getting started. It’s just not good strategy. Blowing their wads. Kerry is so smart.

He is much better positioned. By far. After the downfall comes the big upswing. The others are up only to be flattened. Way too premature. The media blitz will make people bored with them soon. So you can actually thank these fools on TV.

  10. Every time I think Kos may be growing up a little, he proves it aint so… I mean how laughable is this. We are sick and tired of the pundits and DC Dems telling us who we will support, and along comes this outside the mainstream dude with all kinds of grassroots followers, – and he can’t pick em any better than the DC nuts.

Sometimes I have to wonder how life can be so stupid and still be real.

  11. Teresa- I agree, Obama does look like a kid who was allowed to play with the grown-ups and now thinks he is pied piper.

Obama, couldn’t win a state that Kerry didn’t and neither can Hillary. After all with Richardson still gov of NM chances are he’s going to screw up the dem 08 nominee when it comes to his state anyway.

    Biden looks greedy and foolish
    Obama looks impatient, green,
Bayh is boring, stuck up (telling dems to do this and that and he doesn’t do those things himself)
Hillary is just plain ol greedy, cold, and above all hollow
    Vilsak is boring to
    Edwards is slick, glossy, fake
and as for Kerry? Well the real deal fits him to a tee.

Kos and a lot of the anti-Kerry lefties would just about keel over if JK got the 08 nomination.

Hillary, Obama, Bayh, Vilsak, Richardson all think they are so much better than Kerry that their arrogance is showing for any and all to see.

All these so called dem nominee’s better think about getting something done in 07 like Kerry suggested or risk the wrath of the pissed off American voter.

If they think the world is dangerous now just wait till 07 with dubya and rove having just 1 year left to decimate the country more than they have.

  12. I swear, sometimes I don’t know who needs their mouth duct taped more, Kos or Bush!! They do have a little clique over there to say the least. I posted something there for the first time in a very long time. I put up the post on the GOP pedophile and had low results. But guess what was getting a lot of attention and actually got on the rec list? A post about freaking gardening of all things!!!! I kid you not. All those political post that were up, and yet a gardening post was up at the top.

  13. Sometimes I have to wonder how life can be so stupid and still be real.

Great thing to ponder. It would have baffled Socrates.

  14. I was never impressed with Obama. He struck me from the start as a matinee idol all about personal ambition. Then everyone peed their pants over his red white and blue speech at the convention which I thought was mediocre. I couldn’t even follow it. He’s an uninspiring speaker.

The only good thing was his elegance and I thought he might teach the others how to speak English with manners, as he learned and maybe even grew into a decent politician. But now I knew I was right. He’s even worse than I thought. This is an abominable move and I resent this behavior as a taxpayer. Naked ambition and no responsibilty. At last he’s obvious.
