NAACP: Tenn. Senate Ad Plays to Racism
by Pamela LeaveyThe RNC is airing a sleazy, racist ad in Tennessee that is targeting Harold Ford, Jr., a black candidate for Senate. The ad contains “what critics, including the NAACP, are calling racist sexual innuendo about a black man and white woman.”
The Republican National Committee ad began airing Friday and features a series of characters facetiously declaring their support for Democrat Harold Ford Jr., a Memphis congressman who faces Republican Bob Corker, who is white, in the Nov. 7 election. Polls have shown the two locked in a tight race.
How bad is the ad? Bad enough that Ford’s own opponent is reportedly decrying the ad as well saying it is “tacky, over the top and is not reflective of the kind of campaign we are running.” The RNC is refusing to pull the ad:
RNC spokesman Danny Diaz has defended the ad’s accuracy and said it will run its full course. It cost $457,944 to buy the time for the ad, according to Federal Election Commission filings.
There is no end to the sick tactics played by the Republican party.

I have seen this ad over and over again. It is both racist and tacky, not to mention, way over the top.
If Mr. Porker, oops, I mean Corker had some class and thinks this ad is offensive, he would put out an apology ad across the state.
I know that he, Frist, possibly Alexander and, TRP and RNC are behind this all the way while he is trying to deny he is invoved. He is trying to make Harold out to be a Memphis gigglo pimp in a sick, tacky racist, way to get votes.
I don’t agree with some of his stances, but I am so pulling for Ford to win.
Indie Liberal
LOL! Mr Porker.
I really like Harold Ford -
This is not something that Harold Ford can
properly respond to. It is an issue a
the PARTY level. It is the Southern Strategy
epitomized.
That the RNC and Party Leadership have not
responded to this roll out of “The black man
is going to take your daughters” attack
shows a lack of preparedness to re-engage
in the South.
Some leader such as Gore or Kerry should be
right now in Tenn. raising holy hell about
the cesspool of depravity and hatred that
the Republicans want to drag the South back
into.
The DNC should have had a special budget
ready to respond to racism raising its ugly
Republican head.
Shame on us for having not proportional response. They have fired a nuclear missile
at the heart of the Democratic hopes of
regaining the South and we respond with
other peoples bow and arrows.
See a tongue-in-cheek visual that gives Mr. Mehlman a dose of his own “Innuendo” medicine…here:

Wisdom,
I agree. I wonder if Kerry and/or Gore has spoken out on this ad. A trip here wouldn’t hurt either.
The thing about JK and Gore is so many red state dems ran from them in 00 and 04 and think the north senator in particular would cost them votes they probably told JK to stay away.
Remember when Daschle was asked about Kennedy in 04 and he said ted was a friend but he told him to stay out of South Dakota.
SO you can’t have it both ways. They want the money but not the candidate and that’s not right. JK is just as good as any other dem campaigner and at least he puts action with words.
JK has lent his mailing list to help Ford. Where the hell are the clinton’s? What about Landrieau, Edwards, where is Russ?
IF JK isn’t there with ford its not his fault. If ford asked I’d bet JK and momma T would be there.
Typical GOP when all else fails pull out the blacks are going to get you because they know there are people who still fall for that Sh!T.
Whatever, Ford is single and handsome to boot and that’s why they are using this kind of ad.
I hope it will back fire but heck they think gay folks are actually the cause of marriage decline instead of the fact that the wrong people marry each other so who knows.
The dems should have hit back harder especially the leadership and they are as usual sleep at the damn switch.
If anything people need to raise heck with schumer, pelosi, and reid and call busher on it.
