Republicans: “Fooling the Voters”

by Pamela Leavey

The NY Times has a an editorial today explaining the latest Republican effort of “Fooling the Voters.” Thier latest manuevers of “fooling the voters” aren’t simply an attempt to slide one by on the voters, it’s worse, far worse, the Times explains in writing about the minimum wage increase that Republicans in the House passed late Friday night coupled with an estate tax cut that has failed in the past…

This is an attempt at extortion. There is no way to justify providing yet another enormous tax shelter to the nation’s wealthiest heirs in the face of huge budget deficits, growing income inequality and looming government obligations for Social Security and Medicare.

Now it’s up to the Senators “to vet the bill.”

If they see fit to amend it, the negotiations will have to start all over again.

The Senate has one week before its summer recess. As the senators struggle to produce decent legislation from the House’s sham bills, Americans will see the truth: their representatives in the House went on vacation without doing their job.

When will they learn, that they can’t keep fooling the voters? The answer to that question may well be when they see the results at the polls in November, when overwhelming Republicans are rejected at the polls.
