Lieberman and the Anti-Semitism Card
by RonChusidJspot.com discusses the manner in which some in the Lieberman campaign have been charging opponents with anti-semitism, and noted my earlier post on this topic. The New York Times also has a story on this in which Dan Gerstein escalates his previous attacks:
Some of Mr. Lieberman’s supporters say there is a strain of anti-Semitism in the antiwar left that could make Jewish voters uneasy about supporting Mr. Lamont.
“There’s a small but vocal pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel and perhaps anti-Semitic faction of the Democratic Party,’’ said Dan Gerstein, a former Lieberman aide and informal adviser to the campaign. “It is a small minority but it is getting bolder, and even worse. There is a growing tolerance of it in the progressive community.”
The Times does note the degree of Jewish support for Lamont over Lieberman:
But Mr. Lieberman’s supporters also acknowledge that his challenger, Ned Lamont, is receiving substantial support from Jewish voters, as well as some prominent Jewish Democrats.
“There’s no appreciable difference between the two of them on Israel,” said David B. Pudlin, the former Democratic majority leader in the Connecticut House, and one of Mr. Lamont’s more prominent Jewish advisers. “It is about Iraq, affirmative action, health care — these are things Jewish voters are going to care about.”
Jspot.com (referring to Gerstein’s earlier comments, but later adding his more recent comment above) feels “this accusation of antisemitism by the Lieberman camp could do lasting damage to the Democratic party, and Jewish Dems in particular.” The post also reviews reports of anti-semitism, noting that “With the exception of a few on the far left, anti-semitism in America remains a right-wing phenomenon. Neo-nazis, klan members, militias, anti-immigrant vigilantes, Pat Buchanan: all are politically on the far right, not the far left.”

Dumb and dumber, Joe.
There is some long overdue realization and vocalization that the US support of Israel has been too unbalanced to help get more stability in the region.
It isn’t anti-Sematism, pro-Palestinian or pro-Muslim, it’s pro peace and equal justice.
“Sow Justice Harvest Peace”
When we create a perception that we do not hold Israel to the same criteria for Justice as other countries or groups, it is hard for their enemies to think we will even listen, let alone put their values or goals into the discussion.
The innuendo attack on Lamont is interesting coming from Joe. I wouldn’t be surprised if Lieberman loses the primary.
