Blogger Fired For Discussing Geneva Conventions
by RonChusidThe Washington Post tells the story of Christine Axsmith, a software contractor for the CIA, who was fired after her blog presented her views on torture and the Geneva Conventions. The blog “worried ‘the seventh floor’ at CIA, where the offices of the director and his management team are.”
All very interesting, but I keep going back to the first two lines: “Christine Axsmith, a software contractor for the CIA, considered her blog a success within the select circle of people who could actually access it. Only people with top-secret security clearances could read her musings, which were posted on Intelink, the intelligence community’s classified intranet.”
With most bloggers trying hard to find ways to get their blog linked and increase their readership, there is something cool about a blog which requires top-secret secruity clearance to read.
