Bush on a Healthcare Spin Blitz

by Pamela Leavey

First Read reports today that Bush is on a Healthcare Spin Blitz, with a dose of “growing economy” memes thrown in…

Revisiting a theme he highlighted in his State of the Union address, President Bush spoke before the American Health Association this afternoon about the Administration’s health care initiatives, as well as about the growing economy — a subject he’s highlighting at every opportunity to try to counter Americans’ dissatisfaction with high gas prices. “Things are looking good for this economy,” Bush said, but warned the country can’t become too “complacent” — that it needs to devote more resources to research and development in order to maintain a competitive economy. Investments in the nation’s health care system, Bush said, is one way to do that.

One Response to “Bush on a Healthcare Spin Blitz”

  1. Listening to W talk to this group on the radio, and the enthusiastic response of the audience was enough to make me feel sick. Obviously a significant number of those who run this system do not really understand it is broken and W’s ideas to fix it are ludicrously short.
-Health savings accounts don’t even do much for those who have basic health insurance.
-Creating more transparency in the health care system,
(Bush wants transparency??) Not going to affect the cost
-Developing electronic health records is long overdue, been in the hopper for at least a decade. Where is it? Underfunded?
-Curbing the number of medical malpractice suits. Bush criticized Congress for not addressing medical liability reform and called on them to address it this year. It’s a waste of time, medical malpractice costs are 0.4% of the system costs.
Time to get a clue folks,
    It’s the uninsured, numnuts
