Heinz Kerry stumps for governor candidate in Sun Valley

08:43 PM MDT on Sunday, August 14, 2005

Associated Press

KETCHUM — Jerry Brady, the eastern Idaho newspaper publisher who’s running for governor in 2006, got a little fundraising help from a prominent Sun Valley woman.

Teresa Heinz Kerry, wife of the former presidential candidate John Kerry, was stumping for Brady at an event in Ketchum. She has a house there.

Among Brady’s possible Republican opponents, only U.S. Rep. Butch Otter says so far he’s running for the top Idaho post.

Brady garnered only 42 percent of the vote in 2002 when he lost a previous bid for the governor’s job to Dirk Kempthorne.

Heinz Kerry says she thinks Brady’s campaign is far ahead of where he was three years ago when he lost.

Brady’s family owns the Idaho Falls Post Register in Idaho Falls.

Hey Pam, I sent the e-mail under “Hi Pamela” as the subject title.

I did not get it yet. Hmmm… Can you send it again?

  5. Want me to send it through the Democratic Daily address?

  6. Indie

    Yes!

  7. I attended an LA area bloggers BBQ today. It was very interesting…

I don’t want to post a thread about today, so I will share some observations here for everyone to read.

I was surprised and happy to note that everyone had positive thoughts and comments about JK. A lot of sadness about the general outcome but no blame for JK as we see so often in the blogosphere. The general consensus seemed to be that whatever faults with the campaign itself, Kerry would be supported again.

The other interesting note was that the majority of those there do not think highly of a blog I shall not name. Everyone was proud to be a liberal, most considered themselves liberals before progressives, and all seemed to agree that it’s important to be mutually supportive and get more of our voices out there into the mainstream. I met some very wonderful, talented people who were all a pleasure to speak with.

Among those attending were Jane from FireDogLake, Joseph and Alex from Martini Republic, Steve our host from SteveAudio Blog, Ezra Klein, Kevin Drum, Brian Linse, TBogg, RJ Eskow, Scoobie, Mark Kleiman, Leah from Corrente, Ellen Nagler from TheNewPolitics.com and Arianna Huffington and Michael Owen from the Huffington Post.

  8. That’s great Pamela.

P.S. Did the e-mail go through?

I think there are ways to reach out to minorites, I think it’s pure laziness sometimes, so I spread the word about this site as much as possible.

Just let us know what we can do!

  14. Teresa, I agree with you. I feel SO much better just knowing our Teresa is out and speaking. She gives me hope there is a future for us… one that involves a huge measure of civility.
