About That Censure
by Pamela LeaveyPersonally, I’m all in favor of censuring Bush. Quite frankly, I, like many Democrats would prefer impeachment. While, I’m glad to see that our Dem Senators are starting to pick up on this and support it, I get the sense this is going to take some time. We’ve got a lot on slate in the Senate right now, including an upcoming vote to save ANWR, yet again.
Russ Feingold was on the Ed Schultz Show today talking about his efforts to get support for his censure resolution. It was a very good and positive interview – listen here.
Feingold pointed out this is not about impeachment, it’s about censuring Bush because he broke the law. He was also very upbeat about the fact that it’s taking some time to get his colleagues on board. It was good to hear Feingold speak because the way the MSM and some bloggers have been painting this is totally contrary to what Feingold said today, in my opinion. What I got today, listening to the interview was that Feingold recognizes that there is a lot going on in the Senate that takes precedent.
So, here’s my request to our readers…
Our Senators need some help in the way of our speaking out on this, the ANWR vote and the rest of the mess in the Senate right now. So please, take a few minutes tomorrow and Call Your Senators — 888-355-3588 or 800-828-0498. Ask them to support Feingold’s Censure Resolution and ask them to protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, and remind them last but not least that Bush’s ‘07 budget is an affront to hard working Americans.

As noble an idea as it is, the problem with the Censure is that there are WAY to many GOPers in the Senate. We should come back to this idea after November.

I think Feingold kind of gets that – listen to the interview if you haven’t – I was surprised.
Does the censure do someting Dumbo is doing but better? No
How about do something dumbo wouldn’t do. Yes but that point is nonsense. Dumbo won’t censure himself
How about not do something that Dumbo is doing? No.
This is noise and is a candidate to be ignored.

The censure is not the issue..illegal snooping is…
On that issue,
Bush is doing something Dems will do legally.
The censure is a vehile to make the issue heard.

I just listened to the Feingold interview and I agree with you that he sounds more hopeful about reinforcements coming in after they have finished with their battles. I will look for news of Kerry coming to the aid of a courageous senator, one who knows that breaking the law is serious breach for anyone, let alone the President of the United States! It is the democrats time to shine here, for principles, not for strategic moves, as the republicans and the MSM like to phrase it. I will also make the calls you mentioned — Kerry’s request came in yesterday and I will answer his call, as I hope he does the same for Sen. Feingold.
