Media Covers Cheney Shooting Flip Flops

by RonChusid

Compared to the more serious crimes committed by Dick Cheney, the shooting is relatively minor. What makes this of significance is that this is finally the type of story the media likes to cover, giving many Americans their first accurate look at the Vice President’s (lack of) character. While Cheney often fabricated charges that John Kerry was sending mixed signals during the 2004 election campaign, it is Cheney who has been exposed as flip flopping and taking liberties with the truth.

While the media has ignored most lack of candor from the Bush Administration, they have latched onto the delays in Cheney revealing this event and the contradictions in his story. For example, ABC News has posted a story entitled VP Accident Tale Filled With Discrepancies.

ABC concentrates on the discrepancies over who was to blame, whether Cheney was drinking, the victim’s condition, Cheney’s lack of a proper hunting license, and disclosure of the incident. In looking at the questions over disclosure of the event, they question Cheney’s handling of both disclosing this to the American people and to the White House.

Not a bad article. Now if only the media would look more closely at Cheney’s actions with regards to Iraq (including the outing of a covert CIA agent’s identity as part of a conspiracy to keep honest information from the American people) and energy policy.
