Cheney to Discuss Shooting on Right Wing Biased Fox
by Pamela LeaveyDick Cheney will take to the air waves tonight to discuss the shooting incident that has dominated the news and the blogosphere, since the story broke on Sunday.
Cheney won’t be holding a press conference that would give members of multiple news agencies the opportunity to ask questions. Instead he’s granted an exclusive interview with FOX News Channel’s right wing shill Brit Hume.
The interview will be broadcast on “Special Report With Brit Hume,” which airs at 6 p.m. EST.
I think Senator Chuck Schumer had it right when he said Tuesday that “the time has come for the vice president to hold a press conference.” Schumer said “would be Cheney’s first in some four years — to clear the air.”
“In light of the recent shooting accident and all the questions surrounding his role in the leaking of classified national security information through his Chief of Staff Lewis Libby, there are many questions that Americans have for VP Cheney,” Schumer said in a press release.
It’s clear that Cheney would rather speak to a biased enabler like Hume, rather than allow open questions in the press conference.
UPDATE: Here’s a little preview released by Fox from the interview…
“Ultimately I’m the guy who pulled the trigger that fired the round that hit Harry,” Cheney said in his first interview since the incident. “I’m the guy who pulled the trigger and shot my friend, and that’s something I’ll never forget.”
Harry Reid backed up Schumer’s call for a Cheney press conference today…
“I believe the vice president should hold a press conference to talk about the incident in Texas and the other things,” Harry Reid, D-Nev., said after meeting with Cheney, President Bush and other congressional leaders Wednesday morning. The Senate minority leader stressed that Cheney had not given a press conference since 2002.

Just had Ed on Air America talking about Cheney’s interview.
He had an excerpt and Ed said the video definitely gave the impression DC was struggling with the emotions. He stated that he was the one who pulled the trigger, that Whittington was not at fault and it was the worst day of his life to see his friend go down from his shot, seeing the blood all over him.
Ok Dick, you just gained some respect here. Because killing another human is one of hardest events for the human psyche to absorb. This is why those of us who have worked with vets and know what PTSD does to your mind; respect politicians who have served and know the costs of war that are not tangible.
Why we really despise the campaigns that label Vets as unpatriotic.
Why we are so totally outraged that you would send our military into a war zone with out adequate armor.
Dick has an opportunity here to actually learn and grow from this horrible experience. Remember how different George Wallace was after he ended up in a wheelchair?
It’s a very important lesson, Dick. Try to pass. If you don’t,
you will probably have to take it again.
Who wants to see Brit Hume play softball w/ DC with a rehearsed set of questions direct from the VP office. Puhleeze.
I’m outraged and wish the people in this country would grow up and take responsibility. What a sham. Sure he acted contrite, just as long as we the people go on believing that he did the right thing by manipulating the press.
We let him get away with it. Had him snagged and let him get away.
And on and on the manipulation will go.
Puhleeze is right.
It sure is hard sharing the planet with suckers.
“It sure is hard sharing the planet with suckers.”
LOL! Amen!
What we all wouldn’t give for a sucker free planet!

Wish I had heard the excerpt with Ed Schultz. I missed it. Information overload at this point. No doubt Dick has some remorse stashed away somewhere, but as a public figure he so did the wrong thing. Does he grasp that, does he care about the public’s right to know under these circumstances. Hell no! It was spin control to the max!
I do like the fact that Reid is calling for a press conference. That bastard is so slippery and we let him get away with it.
I think we should pursue this.

Schumer yesterday today Reid. I doubt he will do it though. When the heck does anyone from BushCo do what we ask?
Did anyone watch the performance?
BTW, I include myself among the suckers at times. We all fall for some of it. But it’s a good idea to sharpen up now. It’s possible that Cheney will not get out of this. The details don’t matter. The coverup does and people are smelling it. I say we move in on him en masse.
Hey Cheney—Now just imagine those young people you sent to Iraq, that either die or watch their friends get blown up!! Get the picture now? If you are truly sorry, start bringing our soldiers home from this illegal war! A war that was based, on facts as weak as the story that first came out of Texas.

His being sorry won’t change his politics. He’s an old dog and he’s been playing the game the same way for way too long. The game might have caught him in the cross fire so to say but he won’t change.
I know Pamela, but it feels really good to dog hime out He knows as well as everyone else, he is a Grim Reaper.
