Live Appletini Blogging

by RonChusid

Last week we started the search for the perfect Appletini recipe. After lots of hard work taste testing every combination, here’s what is tasting the best:

Grey Goose Vodka 1 shot
Apple Pucker Schnapps 1 shot
Splash of Midori
Splash of lime juice
Place in shaker and shake well with crushed ice

The above makes one drink, which was served in a Martini glass as recommended by Casey, with a sugared rim.

I’ve also obtained exclusive photographs demonstrating how the United States will guarantee military victory (obtained before we were under the influence of Appletini’s) which will be posted later.

Served with double chocolate brownies with M&M’s mixed in the chocolate frosting.

  1. Mmmm… the brownies sound wonderful! It’s too early in the day for me to start drinking though…

Can’t wait to see the photos!

  2. I had heard about the recipe with the midori and thought it sounded interesting. Back in 1986, I used to drink frozen midori daiquiris, which I also recommend on a hot day.

Today, was my son’s fourth birthday. For part of the day we went swimming at my sister’s house and I must report, it was heaven, laying in the pool, drinking an ice cold Pete’s Wicked Ale.

    It was a wonderful day.

  3. Oy vey iz mir… I was LYING in the pool. Fer cryin’ out loud.

  4. Also, I would like to see martini blogging, and let’s not restrict ourselves to just appletini.

We must strive for fairness in the martini world as well. And perhaps we could make suggestions about what to serve with each kind of martini we are perfecting.

I feel a book coming on. Just in time for next summer’s hot find.

Hailing from MA originally anything that is WICKED is fine by me!

Glad your son had wicked cool birthday!

  6. Did our live blogger fall into the martini glass?

  7. I’m back from the fire works and, thanks to recent drought conditions, watching efforts at putting out the fire in the surrounding dune lands. (The area often catches on fire during the fire works, but never to the degree it did this year).

Now that I’m back I was able to file the story which I began researching earlier today (next post).

  8. Casey,

Today was a day for Appletini Blogging, but since when have any of our blogs maintained consistency in commenting. Therefore discussion of other types of martini’s would be fine, as well as anything else.

Besides, we did not limit real world discussion to the Appletini’s we drank. While waiting for the fire works we played cards using a deck which has a different drink recipe on each card. That’s educational card playing.

Whew… I thought we lost you.

Fireworks in August… sounds like my hometown. I think they had a big fireworks display tonight too.

  10. Anything else? Thanks to the monitor dying, I have been living ” Life Without A Computer”. Just set up a new monitor and put a Tiger in the Mac. Tomorrow i Listen is to get installed so I can finish the Ideas for the Democrats, progressives and populists to think on, discuss…

Working title is Wise Ass: It’s the Information Age

Not having the ingredients for an appletini, I settled for rum on my chocolate ice cream.
And managed not to annoint the keyboard ;)

  11. Now that everyone is sufficiently energized with appletinis, I came across a game you might like to play.

Years ago I had a couple of pieces published in a very obscure poetry journal and did a couple of poetry readings. I started writing poetry when I was in my teens, these days I was unpoetic on politics however. I used to paint decades ago too… and spent 20 years as a floral designer before starting my aromatherapy company. I’m happiest when I am being creative… and I suppose that my political blogging is an extension of that.

We were treated to a different sort of fireworks today… a thunder and lightening show over the mountains near my sister’s house. It was spectacular at times. Bob Evans and I were wondering if it was a good as your fireworks last night.
