Boston Legal Takes on the Iraq War

by Pamela Leavey

Boston Legal took on the Iraq War tonight… with a case about “a paralegal who is suing the U.S. Government, to vindicate the death of her brother killed in the Iraq war.”

Here’s a bit of the drama from James Spader’s character as he tears into the MSM…

“We talk about honoring our soldiers, well how about giving a damn when they’re killed…The American public is more concerned about whether or not Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are a couple… The media spends more time on a missing Aruba girl… We have no time table on leaving Iraq… Mothers and fathers spend money on body armor for their kids, that they shouldn’t even have to wear… because they are not supposed to be there.”

Sounds like it was a bit of must see T.V. to me. Hat tip to J.R. for the transcript. Crooks and Liars has the video.

  1. Donnie posted earlier that W is really upset by the big ratings for “Commander in Chief”. He challenged Geena Davis to 3 debates ! ! !

If Boston Legal’s ratings soar, I wonder how he will deal with that.

I keep wondering if there is something we could do enmasse, to take off another bunch of feathers.

Get all the bloggers, Move On members, and hurricane victims to send him.. tin foil hats?? Turkey wishbones?

This feels like living in a comic strip. Maybe I should go to bed….

  2. Ginny,

That Satire on Bush and Geena Davis was funny huh. Maybe a tin foil statue of Bush is in order. Erect a statue and post a pic of it all over the web. Maybe a caption under the pic that mentions osama, ethics, and reality still not found by Dubya.

  3. I am an avid viewer of Boston Legal, and last night James Spader knocked it out of the park. In addition to the comments above, the other side was well represented by William Shatner who kept repeating, “But we’re at war!”

Spader’s comments also included a comparison to the Vietnam War in that at least then we saw the pictures. Now pictures of our dead soldiers are prohibited. In that way, our leaders do not show respect for the dead and maimed soldiers. Not to mention torture.

  4. Damn, Damn, Damn, My hubby travels a lot and he called me from Ohio to remind me to watch Boston Legal because we love it and he said it was a great episode as usual. He has done this before from different time zones. So I get all ready for bed and settle in and watch half of it and then I FALL ASLEEP. This is what happens when you get up at 5:30 AM and Boston Legal isn’t on here until 10 PM. And I didn’t even have any wine.

As a lawyer myself who worked in a law firm of nutty people years ago, the show is real.

I’m not a TV watcher. My daughter (16) was very impressed.
